Shipping Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily shipping operations of the company. This role ensures that all outgoing shipments are processed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with company standards and customer requirements. The Shipping Supervisor will lead a team of shipping associates, monitor inventory levels, and collaborate with other departments to maintain smooth operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the shipping department staff, including logistics coordinator, training, and performance management.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of all outbound shipments, including picking, packing, and labeling.
- Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager and other department supervisors to prioritize and fulfill orders.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the inventory control team to prevent stock shortages or overages.
- Develop and implement procedures to improve shipping accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
- Maintain shipping records, including tracking numbers, delivery confirmations, and discrepancies.
- Resolve any issues related to shipping delays, damages, or errors in a timely manner.
- Communicate with carriers and vendors to arrange pickups, negotiate rates, and resolve any shipping issues.
- Prepare and analyze shipping reports, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss goals, progress, and any challenges.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND TECHNICAL SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent; supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a shipping or logistics role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity. Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, regulations, and documentation.
- Proficiency in shipping software, warehouse management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Identifies Continuous Improvement projects that align with company goals and submits them to the Continuous Improvement Committee and/or Continuous Improvement Manager (minimum of 6 per year)
- Participate in creating work instructions for standardization and repeated success.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines
- Professional Development: Each member of the Leadership team must complete a minimum of
- 32 hours of training on/off site per year. This should be tracked by the employee.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to walk about the facility as needed
- Comfort and ability to be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, heat and cold
- Some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and considerable moving of equipment required. Safety glasses required.
$55k to $65k depending upon experience.
